About Us

The purpose of the South Texas Society for Healthcare Risk Management (STSHRM) shall be to encourage closer cooperation among healthcare risk management personnel and others in the healthcare industry interested in patient safety, quality, and risk control.  STSHRM shall promote the development and awareness of the professional practice of healthcare risk management by:

  1. Providing a medium for the exchange of ideas and information relative to healthcare risk management and patient safety issues;
  2. Encouraging and assisting members to increase their knowledge and skills by conducting educational programs and activities;
  3. Providing a forum to consolidate information and efficient dissemination of that information to STSHRM members;
  4. Providing a resource for institutions interested in initiating and/or improving risk management and patient safety;
  5. Establishing and maintaining affiliation with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management; and
  6. Developing strategies aimed at minimizing the potential liability of healthcare providers.
